The short answer

How interior EMI works in India.

Interior projects are usually financed with a personal or home-improvement loan at 11–18% annual interest over 12 to 60 months. On a ₹8 lakh project at 13.5% over 36 months, the EMI is roughly ₹27,100 and total interest is about ₹1.76 lakh. Longer tenures lower the monthly payment and raise the total cost.

Monthly EMI₹27,116

Total payable₹9,76,176

Before you borrow

Four things worth knowing.

None of these are in the brochure.

01

Tenure is the expensive decision

Stretching ₹8 lakh from 36 to 60 months drops the EMI by about ₹8,000 but adds roughly ₹1.2 lakh in interest. The monthly number feels better and the total is materially worse.

02

Processing fee is not in the EMI

Typically 1–2% of the loan, deducted upfront. On ₹8 lakh that is ₹8,000–₹16,000 you never see. Always compare offers on total cost, not on the advertised rate.

03

Check the prepayment terms

Some lenders charge 2–4% to close early. If there is any chance of a bonus or a maturing deposit paying this off, a zero-prepayment-penalty loan is worth a slightly higher rate.

04

Your own bank first

Existing customers with a salary account frequently get better rates than any partner introduction. Take our lender quote and go and beat it — we would rather you paid less interest.

Good questions

Questions about interior finance.

Interior and home-improvement loans in India typically run 11% to 18% depending on your credit profile, whether the loan is secured, and the lender. Anything advertised well below 11% is usually a short teaser period or carries a large processing fee.

Most lenders fund 70–90% of the project value, so plan for a down payment. Some brands offer no-cost EMI on a portion of the scope, which is generally the modular furniture rather than civil work.

No. It lowers the monthly payment and increases the total interest. Move the tenure slider above and watch total interest climb — a 60-month tenure typically costs 60–70% more interest than a 36-month one.

The interest is usually built into the price or absorbed as a discount the lender funds. It can be genuinely good value — just compare the no-cost EMI price against the cash price before assuming it is free.

We work with lending partners and can introduce you, but we are not a lender and we do not earn on the rate you get. Compare what we introduce against your own bank; often your existing bank offers better terms to an existing customer.
