About 2 feet in front of the shutters. Measure from the wardrobe wall to the edge of your bed — if it is under 2 feet, choose sliding instead, because you will be squeezing past an open door every day.
Four, at roughly 2 feet each. Wider shutters look cleaner but sag over time and need more swing space. Two feet is the width that stays true for a decade.
