A U gives roughly 40% more cabinet volume than an L in the same footprint. Joint families and anyone who buys groceries monthly rather than weekly will use every inch of it.
Below 8ft the two facing runs leave less than 1.1m of standing space and two people cannot pass. This is the single measurement that decides whether a U works — we check it before proposing one.
A U closes the room. If you wanted a breakfast counter or a dining table in the kitchen, an L or a parallel with an island will serve you better.
Finishes are what you see. These are what decide whether the kitchen is still tight in year eight.
Boiling-water-resistant ply as standard, boiling-waterproof under the sink and near the hob. We do not use MDF or particle board in wet zones — it swells, and no warranty saves a swollen carcass.
2mm PVC banding on every visible edge, 0.8mm inside. Cheap 0.45mm banding lifts within two Bengaluru monsoons; the edge is where a kitchen ages first.
Hettich or Hafele hinges and channels throughout, not just on the display doors. Rated to 50,000 open-close cycles — roughly twenty years of daily use.
Every panel is pre-treated. In ground and first-floor flats around Whitefield and Sarjapur this is the difference between a ten-year unit and a four-year one.

You see the kitchen in 3D with your appliances placed. We fix the work triangle first, storage second, finishes last — in that order.
Panels are cut on a CNC line to the measured drawing. Nothing is cut on your floor, so there is no dust and no on-site improvisation.
Installed in 3–5 days, levelled, and handed over with a written snag list closed. Your warranty starts the day we hand over, not the day you paid.

See island kitchensAt least 8 feet wall to wall. Below that, the clear space between the two facing runs drops under 1.1 metres and two people cannot pass each other comfortably. We will tell you if your room is under this rather than sell you a U that frustrates you daily.
Yes — that is the trade-off. We fit a magic corner or carousel in both. Budget roughly ₹18,000–₹28,000 extra for the pair, and treat it as non-optional; blind corners in a U waste a lot of expensive cabinetry.
If you cook two proper meals a day, yes. If you mostly reheat and order in, you are paying for capacity you will not use, and an L with better finishes is the smarter spend.
Usually the sink run goes under the window. That works well. What does not work is a window on the middle run where you wanted wall cabinets — you lose about 6 feet of upper storage, so we plan around it early.
About 24 days from design sign-off, with 4–5 days of installation. The extra time over an L is mostly the third run and the second corner mechanism.
