Premium kitchen hardware in Bengaluru

Hettich, Häfele, Blum and Ebco, what the difference actually is, where it is worth paying for, and how to check you got what the quote said.

The short answer

Hardware is 15–20% of a kitchen and most of the daily experience.

The shutters are what you look at; the hardware is what you touch forty times a day, and it is the part that fails first. Hettich, Häfele and Blum are all genuinely good and specifying any of them properly will outlast the kitchen around it. Blum sits at the top on motion quality and price, Hettich offers the best range-for-money and is what we use as standard, Häfele is strong on fittings and accessories as well as hinges, and Ebco is a competent domestic option that belongs in a budget build rather than a premium one. The real question is not which brand but which series, the same brand spans a four-fold price range, and "Hettich hinges" on a quote tells you almost nothing.

The comparison

Where each one earns its price.

BrandStrongest atTypical premiumWhere we use it
HettichRange depth, hinge and channel value, service networkBaseline premiumStandard specification across all tiers
HäfeleAccessories, tall-unit systems, lift-up fittings10–20% over HettichWhere the accessory set drives the design
BlumMotion quality, tolerance, warranty depth30–60% over HettichLuxe tier and where the client wants the best
EbcoCost, availability20–30% below HettichBudget builds; not our default
What matters

Four specifications worth more than the brand.

01

Full extension, not three-quarter

A drawer that only opens 75% leaves the back permanently awkward. Full-extension runners cost a little more and change how the kitchen works every day.

02

Load rating against real use

A pan drawer wants 40–50 kg rated runners. A 25 kg runner will work and will sag within a couple of years, and it always sags on the drawer you use most.

03

Soft-close on the hinge, not as a separate damper

Integrated soft-close is more reliable than a clip-on damper, which loosens and can be removed. If a quote says "soft-close", ask which.

04

Tall-unit mechanisms are the real premium

Pull-out pantries, corner carousels and lift-up fittings are where hardware money genuinely goes. This is what separates a ₹60,000 hardware package from a ₹1.6 lakh one.

Verify it

How to check you got what you paid for.

Hardware is the easiest thing in a kitchen to substitute after the quote is signed, because it arrives in unmarked boxes and disappears inside the joinery. Ask for the brand and series on the quote, not just the brand. Ask for the packaging to be left on site during installation. And open a drawer fully and look at the runner, the brand and series are stamped on the side of every genuine unit.

Our quotes name the series for every hinge, channel and mechanism, and the hardware schedule is part of the handover documents alongside the warranty. If what is on the wall does not match what is on the schedule, that is a warranty claim and we would want to know.

Questions

Asked and answered.

Hettich across all three tiers as the baseline, with Häfele where the accessory set suits the design better and Blum on the Luxe tier or on request. The series is named on every quote.

For the motion quality on drawers you use constantly, many people think so, and the tolerance is genuinely better. For upper-unit hinges you rarely touch, the difference is much harder to justify.

Manufacturer warranties vary by brand and series, and they sit alongside our 10-year workmanship warranty rather than replacing it. The hardware schedule handed over at the end lists what applies.

Yes, and it changes the warranty position. We warrant our workmanship but not a component we did not supply. If you do, buy from an authorised dealer, because counterfeit hardware is common and very hard to spot once installed.
